When the last petal falls...

Hi again!

The last  photo to date, my sixteenth birthday! As part of my birthday present I got to go watch the new "Beauty and the Beast" movie with mum and my boyfriend. I really enjoyed it, and it's easily become one of my favorite movies, so it was only right that I make my birthday cake with a "Beauty and the Beast" theme. Mum helped out with smoothing the icing, finding the best way to make the roses, and helping place the roses. However all the roses and leaves were made by me, as were the patterns around the side.

One ring to rule them all...

Hi all!

Next photo! My fifteenth birthday! As you can see, I am a huge fan of "Lord of the Rings" and I thoroughly enjoyed making this  One Ring cake. Mum gave me some help smoothing the icing out, but other than that it was my work.

In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit...

Hi! Time for my first photo!

This was my 14th birthday cake. Although I didn't do it completely on my own, I thought I'd put it in to show what Mum has taught me to do. When we made this one we didn't have that meany tools, and we didn't know how to use buttercream icing to decorate, so everything had to be made from fondant. The writing was done with a licorice pen.

Welcome to Fantastic•Fondant

Hi! My name is Rachel Buckland, and I'm a home-schooled teen in my second to last year of school.

I'm the oldest child in my family, and when I was born it became my Mum's traditional birthday gift to me and then to the rest of my siblings, to make a beautiful cake for us. She is very good at it and she installed in me a love for making and decorating cakes and cupcakes and any other kind of dessert.

I'm hoping to one day start a small business from home, making cakes, cupcakes, and other things but for now I don't have the space or the time. So while I wait, I'm going to post photos of the things I make as a way for people to see what I can do. I hope you enjoy!
