Chocolate Paradise - Part 1

Hi all! I've just had my 17th birthday, and I decided to do a chocolate overload for my cake. This is part one, which I made to have with my family on my birthday. Part 2 is going to be made at the end of this week for when I go out with my friends on a late birthday outing.

Caterpillar

My sister Hannah's birthday was in March, and she decided she wanted a caterpillar cake, leading up to a butterfly cake next year.
Our local A&P show was the day before Hannah's birthday, so she agreed to let my enter her cake in the decorated cakes section of the show.
I'm so happy with how the cake turned out, and I was thrilled when it won not only a first place certificate, but also a ribbon for "Most Outstanding Home Produce Exhibit."

Unicorn

My little sister Asher, had her birthday in February, and around the same time I saw an advert for a cake making class, learning how to decorate a unicorn cake. Mum and I thought it would be a great chance for me to learn some tips, as well as making a cake to bring home for Asher's birthday.
The class was amazing, and I learned so much! I'm also really happy with how the cake turned out.

Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate

Hi all!

It was my Dad's birthday in January, and this year Mum decided that I should do the cake making for the family, so I made Dad's birthday cake.
For a number of years now, Dad's traditional birthday cake has been a chocolate mousse cake. I won't put the recipe on here, but just to give you an idea of how rich it is, it takes a total of 1kg of chocolate, and 1 liter of cream!
Unfortunately the chocolate ganache didn't work very well when I tried to pipe it, so I'm going to have to do some more work on that before this cake is ready to sell.

A New Arrival!!!

My new baby sister was born in November 2017, and I had the honor of making her birth day cake.
Unfortunately I couldn't get the buttercream as white as the fondant I used for the shoes, but overall I'm quite happy with how it turned out since it was my first time using buttercream rather than fondant.

When the last petal falls...

Hi again!

The last  photo to date, my sixteenth birthday! As part of my birthday present I got to go watch the new "Beauty and the Beast" movie with mum and my boyfriend. I really enjoyed it, and it's easily become one of my favorite movies, so it was only right that I make my birthday cake with a "Beauty and the Beast" theme. Mum helped out with smoothing the icing, finding the best way to make the roses, and helping place the roses. However all the roses and leaves were made by me, as were the patterns around the side.

One ring to rule them all...

Hi all!

Next photo! My fifteenth birthday! As you can see, I am a huge fan of "Lord of the Rings" and I thoroughly enjoyed making this  One Ring cake. Mum gave me some help smoothing the icing out, but other than that it was my work.
